1) It's been a while since i played, but how did you figure it out?ġ.5) Your explanation for how Redruth could have committed the murder requires a lot of unlikely events that are in no way hinted at. Originally posted by Perseus:Possible explanation : the authorities made dumb assumptions, weren't perfectly logical, made mistakes, and so on.ġ) This still doesn't account for how on earth the player is supposed to deduce that Blair is the culprit.Ģ) It's deeply unsatisfying or even poor-quality writing when a detective story hinges upon people making inexplicable decisions without this being explained or at least lampshaded. This also means that the authorities’ failure to identify Blair as the culprit is inexplicable. This makes Blair’s plot imbecilic as, within the logic of the game, it's apparently straightforwardly deducible that he is the culprit. Therefore, if a) the player is intended to deduce that Blair was the murderer, then it’s incoherent that b) the authorities did *not* correctly deduce that Blair was the murderer. The only relevant pieces of information that are available to the player that might not be available to the authorities are that i) Redruth can’t read (which demonstrates nothing - it doesn’t rule out him writing “REVENGE” on the wall) and ii) Redruth was near the scene (which further *supports the player's conclusion* that Redruth was the murderer). But there is no such information that supports the notion that Blair was the culprit. That would be fine if the player were privy to crucial pieces of information that the authorities would not obtain. Hence, Blair’s plot *itself* relies on the *authorities finding the notion that Redruth was the murderer more plausible* than the notion that Blair was the murderer. If the devs are going to insert a wanted murderer into the scene as a red herring, it would've been wise to not write that red herring as being the most plausible explanation.Īsh Blair is trying to frame Robert Redruth. All of the above could've taken place during the third round of cards, which was played by Annie, John, and Ash.Įxtremely disappointing that there appear to be no clues that suggest this chain of events was not possible or, indeed, much likelier than the intended solution.Redruth could then have opened the window and escaped.Although Redruth can't read, it's easy to imagine that he's taught himself to write "REVENGE" - he's an escaped convict after all, and he may have taught himself this word to aid his criminal endeavours - thus enabling him to daub this on Wright's wall with blood. ![]() ![]() ![]()
